An Approachable and Responsive San Diego Attorney

When you need an experienced lawyer in California, it can be difficult to find someone who genuinely cares about you and your family. At the Lewis Law Firm, I make a personal commitment to my clients' cases and legal matters.

Education & Interscholastic Athletics

An education can have a positive impact on your child's life through athletics and scholastics.

Faced with the rising cost of college, high school athletics may play an important role for your student's future. If your son or daughter has been unfairly identified as ineligible for interscholastic sports, I may be able to help.

Students with special needs, such as those with learning disabilities, may also be eligible to play interscholastic sports. Their eligibility may be questioned on many levels, including restrictions such as the 5th year rule.

If you have a child with a disability, you may need legal advice regarding administrative claims to provide for your child's educational needs for assessment, placement and services provided by state and federal law. I will work with you to prepare your child's individualized education plan (IEP) and represent your student's interests in due process hearings.

Post-Secondary Private Colleges and Vocational Schools

Sometimes, post-secondary institutions make promises they cannot keep. For example, a vocational school may tell the applicant that a very high percentage of their graduates will have employment within the first year after graduation or that the graduate can expect to earn a very high salary. But the school may have a poor post-graduate hire rate or the average earnings in the field may be significantly lower than represented. These problems may be compounded if the school's credits are not transferable to another institution. The student can be faced with a large student loan debt which carries little value when compared to the time, money and effort spent in class.

If you were promised a high probability of being hired for a well-paying job soon after graduation, but have been unable to find that job, you may be entitled to recover tuition or other damages from the school. Contact me for a free initial consultation to discuss your options.

Personal Injury Claims

I work with personal injury victims of dog bites and car or bicycle accidents to obtain a fair recovery. There can be liens against your recovery related to medical bills, insurance issues or disability claims which need attention. It is easy to get lost in the system when you need medical attention and legal representation at the same time. I am invested in my clients and fight to ensure that their voices are heard.

You should be aware that before I can represent your interests, an agreement signed by you and myself is required by the rules of professional conduct. Confidential internet communication may be inadvertently obtained by others, which is beyond the control of the Lewis Law Firm.
